For the iconic pedal company, the JHS Hard Drive marks a distinct achievement – a first in the company’s fifteen years. The Hard Drive enters the JHS library of effects as the brand’s first modern distortion circuit not based on existing circuitry or design. A high-gain distortion for the modern player, the Hard Drive carries with it all the refined topology and exciting tonality JHS is known for and is sure to impress.
Pining after the high-gain sounds contemporary to the ‘90s and ‘00s, founder Josh Scott initially landed with the idea for the Hard Drive in 2016. All these years later, this vision finally comes to fruition. The JHS Hard Drive attacks its ‘90s and ‘00s high gain tones from a unique angle by utilizing cascaded gain stages and a hard limiting circuit. This design continues with a class AB amplifier section, driving a “sweepable midrange” EQ and Baxandall bass and treble controls.
What this all adds up to is a deeply interactive and customizable set of controls to dial in one’s own modern distortion. Whether one is seeking a simple amp-like crunch or a saturated wall of distortion, the Hard Drive is the prescription for achieving this kind of driven tonality on a wide spectrum. A modern dirt pedal both effortlessly dialed and dynamically playable, the Hard Drive summons new sonic frontiers to take on in your music.
- Modern, high-gain tonality
- "Sweepable midrange" EQ and Baxandall bass and treble control sections
- Silent soft-touch switching
- Buffered bypass
- Standard 9 Volt DC power operation
